Bumblebee Class (2 year old provision)

Welcome to Bumblebee classbee

We are the very youngest children in school at only two years old!  We are in a ‘pod’ with Caterpillar and Butterfly class. We are taught by Mrs Wheatley and she is supported by our higher level teaching assistant, Mrs McCabe, and our teaching assistant, Miss Cox.  We have a range of provision on offer for our two-year-olds including the government’s free Play and Learn sessions and this is a fantastic way to support your child’s transition into nursery.  Additional sessions can be purchased and we also offer a Lunch Club to children wishing to stay for longer sessions or even full days.  Children can join us from the term after their second birthday; applications for places can be made via our school office.

What’s involved in Play and Learn sessions?

Our sessions aim to support children’s social skills and help to prepare them for later life education. We provide opportunities and resources for children to develop their speech, behaviour and creativity. Our 2 year olds can experiment with different mark making tools to prepare them for writing. Provide a range of stories and rhymes which supports learning to read. Explore a variety of sensory materials and textures. As well as accessing the  outdoor space which includes a water play area and a large sand pit. Parents will also be able to join in with the fun on our Stay and Play sessions that we hold termly.

Praise Notes

We are sure there are lots of achievements which happen at home that your teachers would love to know about too! These do not have to be academic, it can be about confidence, becoming more independent or being kind to family or friends! Send these into school with your child, and we will put them into their books and learning journeys.   You can download them from here  Praise notes from home pdf  or pick up one from school (they are always available in the main entrance or when you collect your child at the end of the day!)

Summer 2019-20

School Closure due to COVID-19 pandemic

Oh no! Further to the guidance issued by Central Government all schools across England are closed.

We have sent tasks to complete during your time off.

We have been so busy with the homework grids that we needed more activities.  Have a look at this grid for more activities: 2-yr-old activity grid

Here is another grid with different activities to complete: 2-yr-old homework grid

If you didn’t receive the ‘homework’ grid then please download this copy: Homework 2020

Here are some photographs that have already been sent. Keep up the hard work!

Spring 2

During this half term, we are going to continue to explore the environment through our choosing time. We will be exploring both inside and outside of the classroom. We will continue to go into the forest on Forest Friday (with Nursery) in order to see if we can capture some signs of Spring. Remember to bring clothes and wellies that will get muddy! We loved running around the field last half term – it was so big – we can’t wait to do it again!

We will continue to learn maths and pre-phonics skills through play.

Spring 1

This half term we enjoyed exploring the messy and sensory activities! We continue to share the classroom with Caterpillar class (Nursery) but we now have our own little area! We loved having our own area to explore.

We continued to learn maths and pre-phonics skills through play.

We were very lucky this half term. Zoolab came into Nursery and shared all their amazing animals with us. The ranger allowed us to look, hold and stroke the different creatures and told us stories about them. We loved it!

Autumn 2

We continue to explore our classroom and the outdoor area. We love having the choice of where we would like to play!

This half term has been extremely busy. We’ve been singing, creating, exploring and using our imagination in our play. We especially love messy and sensory play! We continue to go out for Forest Friday and are beginning to be more independent when getting ready.

We have been learning maths and pre-phonics skills through play.

We have loved all the Christmas activities! We had a Stay & Play where our parents were able to complete activities with us. We had a Christmas party and we got to wear our party clothes! We loved dancing to the music, playing party games and having party food. We even got to meet Santa during an assembly and he gave us all presents.

Autumn 1

Bumblebees have settled well into the new school year. We share our classroom with Caterpillar class. We have enjoyed exploring the new classroom and the different areas that are set up e.g. the role play area, the creative area, the messy area and many more!

We also looked at the life cycle of plants and how we have to look after them. We were very lucky as some lambs, chicks and ducklings came to visit us in Nursery!

We even made Rice Krispie cakes. We really enjoyed this activity!

We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. We had lots of fun!

During group times we focused on shapes in maths and we looked at developing our fine motor skills in our pre-phonics sessions.
